Scholarships for High GPA or Low GPA College Students

Many graduating high school seniors are well aware of the rising costs associated with attending college these days.  It is because of these annual tuition increases that many college students are forced to find other ways to pay for their college educations.  One of the best ways to help pay for college is by way of a scholarship.  No matter what kind of GPA you have there are college scholarships available for you.

For students with a high GPA it will be easier to find a scholarship.  There are generally more scholarships available for students with high GPAs.  Companies and organizations like to reward students for their various achievements, and the easiest achievement to quantify is a high grade point average.  Almost all major corporations will have a college scholarship fund.  Companies such as Coca Cola, Best Buy and Bank of America routinely give away thousands of dollars every year to college students.  If you are looking for a list of college scholarships for students with a high GPA you can start by compiling a list of the major corporations in the United States.  A little bit of research on their corporate website should yield a large number of scholarship opportunities.

While it is easy to find a large number of scholarships if you have a high GPA, what if you have a low grade point average?  There is no need to worry if your GPA is not up to valedictorian standards, there are still a good number of scholarship opportunities available.  You will just have to think outside of the box when looking for these scholarship opportunities.  Companies and organizations need a reason to give you money for college, and like to reward quality individuals.  If you do not have a high GPA these companies will have to reward you for other behaviors.  Some scholarships for students with low grade point averages might depend on athletic or artistic merit, community service, extracurricular activities, or on skill in a non-academic discipline.

Some examples of college scholarships that can be received even with a low GPA include the David Letterman Telecommunications Scholarship, with winners being selected based on their creativity.  The Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck at Prom Contest is another unique scholarship opportunity.  This scholarship is awarded to a contest winner who dresses up for the prom using Duck Brand Duct Tape.  Also, the Do Something Awards is another great scholarship opportunity awarded to “change makers” who do something to better their community.
As you can see there are a wide variety of college scholarships available to students.  Whether you have a high GPA or low grade point average does not restrict you from being eligible for scholarships.  The important thing to remember is that you will have to do a lot of research and searching on the internet to find the best college scholarships.  If you do this I am sure that you will be able to get some scholarship money to help pay for your college education.
